Balochistan Assembly staff threaten to go on hunger strike

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly staff, including officers, have threatened to go on a hunger strike for acceptance of their demands.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, senior leader of the Balochistan Assembly Staff Association Zafar Rind said that a charter of 10-point demand had been presented to the speaker.

“If our demands are not accepted, all staff would go on a hunger strike on August 23,” he said, adding that they would also stop working from August 16.

Mr Rind said in the first phase a pen-down strike will be started from August 10 from 12 noon to 2pm and from 12 noon to 3pm the next day.

The demands included declaring the Balochistan Assembly an independent body like Balochistan High Court, vacant posts should be filled with the family members of the employees who had died during service.
