HYDERABAD: Establishment-backed alliance opposed

HYDERABAD, Nov 1: The central committee of the Sindh National Party at a meeting held here on Monday announced that the party would not enter into any alliance which might be formed by the establishment.

It said that it would certainly join the alliance constituted to protect the interests of Sindh.

Party chairman Amir Bhambhro presided over the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhambhro said that some groups were trying to forge a so-called alliance to enter the corridors of powers by using Sindh card.

He said that any alliance which enjoyed the patronage and support of the establishment, generals and anti-Sindh elements, would be very dangerous for Sindh.

He stressed the need for a genuine alliance of parties which were sincerely working for the cause of Sindh.

He said that such an alliance could comprise sincere leaders like Pir Saeen Pagaro, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Rasool Bux Palijo, Bashir Khan Qureshi, Justice (r) Sajjad Ali Shah, Ms Ghinwa Bhutto, Jalal Mehmood Shah, Hafeez Pirzado, Shafi Burfat, Abdul Khaliq Junejo and Zain Shah.

Mr Bhambhro said that some politicians and so-called nationalist leaders were speaking about a national alliance to implement the programme of the agencies.

He cautioned the people of Sindh against the designs of such leaders.

He claimed that the SNP was the only party which was the symbol of struggle.

The meeting resolved that after Eidul Fitr the party leadership would get in touch with the true leaders of Sindh to forge a national alliance.
