ISLAMABAD: The capital saw an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases as 360 people were diagnosed with the disease on Monday while the positivity rate was 8.2pc.

Furthermore, four people reportedly succumbed to the virus during the last two days.

Officials of the capital administration said three female patients passed away in Islamabad district on Sunday whereas one more female patient died on Monday. The deceased were from the 30-39, 40-49 and 50-59 age brackets; they were residents of F-11, G-8, E-8 and Bari Imam.

On Monday, 4343 tests were conducted for detection of the virus among people.

Officials said 321 and 218 cases were reported with 8.1pc and 6.5pc positivity rate on Sunday and Saturday respectively.

Four more die in capital

Occupancy rate of beds and ventilators for Covid-19 patients in hospitals further increased, the officials said, adding the number of beds being used increased to 809 from 739 while the number of ventilators in use increased to 120 from 110. The occupancy rate of beds in the capital is 49.4pc whereas the occupancy rate of ventilators is 40pc.

APP ADDS: As many as 122 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Rawalpindi district on Monday. Positivity ratio in the district was 13.02pc.

Around 1,791,039 people including 38,981 health workers and 1,752,058 senior citizens have been vaccinated against the virus in 23 centres operating across the district since the vaccination campaign began on March 10.

According to data, 31 cases were reported from Rawal Town, 17 from Potohar town, 21 from Rawalpindi cantonment, five from Gujar Khan, three from Kallar Syedan, four from Taxila, nine from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), seven from Attock, six from Chakwal, 10 from Islamabad, three from Abbottabad and one each from Kahuta, Khushab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mandi Bahauddin and Multan.

Presently, 223 confirmed patients are admitted to various city health facilities including 49 in Holy Family Hospital, 28 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 86 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 51 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, four in Bilal Hospital, two each in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital and Hearts International Hospital while one was admitted in Begum Akhtar Memorial Trust.

The district health authority said so far 30,693 patients were discharged after recovery while 3,477 were quarantined including 1,887 at home and 1,590 in isolation. The report said that 11 patients were on ventilators in critical condition, 85 were stable and 127 were on oxygen support.
