Ehsan Mani likely to bat on as PCB chief

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday held another meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ehsan Mani to discuss cricket affairs, while indicating that he would continue as head of the PCB.

During the last 24 hours, Mani — whose three-year term expires on Wednesday — has twice met the prime minister, who is also PCB’s patron-in-chief.

A government official told Dawn that the PM asked Mani to continue until he makes any decision.

Earlier, on Monday, the PM held separate meetings with Mani and former Test skipper Ramiz Raja amid speculations over the appointment of next PCB chairman. However, sources said, in Tuesday’s meeting Mani discussed upcoming cricket series, which shows he will continue for some time.

Sources said the prime minister wanted to replace Mani with Ramiz but it seems likely that Mani will continue for the time being.

While speaking to Dawn, Mani refused to say much on his parleys with the prime minister. “I will not say anything about [the] meeting, you are referring to.”

There are chances that Mani will retain his position as the BoG member and another member Asad Ali Khan will be replaced by Ramiz.
