Malls, public places ‘no-go area’ for the unvaccinated in Lahore after Aug 30

LAHORE: The city district government on Wednesday announced a ban on the entrance of unvaccinated citizens to shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, public and private places including transport services after Aug 30.

Deputy Commissioner Mudassir Riaz said all unvaccinated citizens should get first Covid jab till Aug 30 otherwise they would not be allowed to avail themselves of facilities such as access to public and private places.

He said stern action would be taken against those who failed to get their first jab till the deadline. “Educationists, including teachers, administrative staff, transporters, guest houses, hotels, home delivery staff, marriage halls and bus stand employees should get themselves vaccinated till Aug 30.”

They will also face travel ban

He said unvaccinated people would not be allowed to enter shopping malls while a local and national travel ban would also be imposed on them.

He said unvaccinated people would not be allowed to travel in buses, wagons, trains, and coasters.

Mr Riaz further said public and private office employees would also get themselves vaccinated otherwise strict action would be taken against unvaccinated people.

Meanwhile, a price inspection team led by DC Mr Riaz also visited different markets to check the rates of daily items and eatables.

He visited Emporium Mall, Johar Town, and checked the prices of edible items.

He checked the prices of the onion, tomato, potato and other eatables and found an increase in rates.

The DC ordered the arrest of the manager of the store and also imposed a Rs100,000 fine. He also inspected the prices of vegetables and chicken in the market and imposed a fine of Rs5,000 for overcharging.

He said the price inspection would continue in the city, adding that the coronavirus SOPs should also be implemented in markets.
