Plots for displaced families ordered

SUKKUR: The Sukkur bench of the Sindh High Court on Wednesday ordered Sindh government to allot plots to all displaced families who were deprived of their homes in the wake of anti-encroachment drive along banks of canals in Sukkur.

Mahfooz Awan, counsel for the displaced families who had filed a petition in the court against their displacement, argued that it had been almost two years since the affected families had been evacuated from canals’ banks but they had not been provided alternative abodes till this day.

The Sindh government’s lawyer

informed the court that the government had formed a committee for the allotment of plots to the displaced families and submitted a copy of notification which said special adviser to chief minister on Sukkur affairs Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh had been made new chairman of the committee.
