Property dealer gunned down in Defence

KARACHI: A 55-year-old man was shot dead in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday, according to police.

Area SHO Azam Rajpar said that Javed Ali, a property dealer by profession, was riding a motorbike when assailants, also riding a motorcycle and ostensibly chasing him, fired on him in Street 13, Phase-II, DHA. As he fell down from the bike after sustaining gunshot wounds, the assailants pumped more bullets into his body and rode away.

He suffered at least seven bullet wounds in the head and chest and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

The SHO said that the murder appeared to be an outcome of some personal enmity over some property-related issue.

The victim owned several buildings in Defence and Korangi.

Murder in Surjani

A man was gunned down allegedly by his two relatives over a family dispute in Surjani Town on Sunday.

Area SHO Deedar Ali said that Zia Inayat Ullah, 50, was killed near Jamia Masjid in Maula Abdul Kareem Bakhsh Goth.

The suspects, said to be the nephew and brother-in-law of the victim, managed to escape from the crime scene.

He said that a victim’s daughter was recently separated from her husband and the issue led to his murder.

He said that the victim’s two daughters were allegedly kidnapped about a month back in Gharibabad, a locality in Manghopir, and he was trying to shift them to Surjani Town.

He was cleaning his new house when the suspects emerged there and shot him dead. The victim originally hailed from Mehrabpur.

Stabbed to death

A 55-year-old man was stabbed to death in Lines Area on Sunday.

Brigade SHO Majid Korai said that the body of Abdul Rehman was recovered from his home.

The body was shifted to the JPMC to complete medico-legal formalities.

The motive for the killing could not be ascertained till late in the night.
