Noor Mukadam’s relatives, friends protest outside IHC

ISLAMABAD: As the Islamabad High Court (IHC) resumed hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by Zakir Jaffer, father of Noor Mukadam’s alleged murderer Zahir Jaffer, relatives and friends of the deceased staged a protest outside the main entrance to the premises demanding exemplary punishment to the accused and his accomplices.

The protest demonstration was organised by friends of Noor to express solidarity with the victim’s family.

Noor was tortured and beheaded on July 20, 2021, in a house owned by Zakir Jaffer in F-7/4.

The protesters demanded that justice be done and the trial of the accused persons should also be commenced at the earliest by the sessions court.

The protesters also demanded death sentence to Zahir and jail sentence to his accomplices. They also opposed the grant of bail to the co-accused.

Zahir’s father and employees of Therapyworks have filed petitions seeking post-arrest bail.

As per the challan submitted by the Kohsar police to Additional District and Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani, Zahir and five workers of Therapyworks allegedly connived to dispose of the body of Noor and rescue the alleged murderer from the crime scene.

During the course of hearing in the IHC on Monday, Advocate Shah Khawar submitted papers of attorney (wakalatnama) to Justice Aamer Farooq.

The court adjourned hearing of the petition till September 15.
