Swabi varsity to hold pharmacy exams online
SWABI: The University of Swabi on Tuesday agreed to the demand of pharmacy department students to hold annual examinations online.
The announcement was made after talks between the varsity’s management and student leaders here.
A week ago, the students had held a protest demonstration against the varsity decision to hold on-campus examinations.
The students had also blocked the Swabi-Jehangira Road on Monday, demanding that since their classes were held online the examinations should also be held online.
A notification issued by the registrar office said the varsity had allowed holding of pharmacy-D programme examinations for annual 2021 online.
It asked the controller of examinations to chalk out a mechanism to ensure transparency of the examinations.
In a separate development, a man killed his brother in Gulu Dheri village on Tuesday over a money dispute.
SHO Swabi city police station Ajab Durrani said Shaukat Zaman demanded share from brother, Sikandar Zaman, after sale of their mother’s property .
The police officer said Shaukat got furious when Sikandar told him that the money would be distributed among them with the consent of their mother, prompting him to open fire on Sikandar, killing him on the spot.
The police registered an FIR against Shaukat and started further investigations.
Also in the day, a woman, who was attacked and critically injured by her nephew with an axe, succumbed to injuries in a hospital. The incident had occurred in Yar Hussain village of Chota Lahor.
The accused, Haris Khan, had also critically injured his another aunt. The cause of the incident was a dispute over the ownership of a house.
