ISLAMABAD: Seven more patients lost their battle against Covid-19 and 320 people got infected in Rawalpindi and the federal capital on Saturday.

Four of the casualties were reported from Islamabad while three persons succumbed to the virus in Rawalpindi.

As many as 203 people tested positive in Islamabad, officials of the capital administration said.

Giving a breakdown of the casualties, the officials said two women in the age group of 50-59 and 70-79 and two men in the age bracket of 60-69 and 80-89 died of Covid-19. Two of them were residents of F-11 while the others were from Tarlai and Koral.

During the last 24 hours, 5,752 people got tested out of whom 120 males and 83 females were found having the virus. According to data, the positivity rate in the capital was recorded at 3.52pc.

The officials said 19 cases were detected in Lohibher, followed by 12 in Tarlai, nine patients surfaced from G-9, six each from Bhara Kahu, Rawat, G-7 and Koral, five each from E-11, F-6 and Alipur, four each from G-10, G-8, F-10 and H-12, three each from G-6, I-8, I-10, F-11, Kirpa and Chirrah, two each from Sohan, I-9, Khanna, G-13, Kurri, Rawal Town, Pind Begwal, and one patient each was reported from F-8, G-5, F-7, Sihala, E-7, E-16, I-14 and E-9.

There were 2,741 active cases in the capital as of Sept 18 out of which 144 were admitted to hospitals, 125 were on oxygen and 19 on ventilators.

The occupancy rate of beds allocated in capital’s hospitals for Covid-19 patients was 37.2pc whereas the ratio of ventilator use was 31.66pc, the officials said.

Rawalpindi

Three people died of Covid-19 and 117 more cases were detected in Rawalpindi district on Saturday.

As many as 180 people were also discharged from hospitals after recovering during the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate in the district has jumped to 7.8pc from the previous day’s 6.2pc.

A total of 1,484 samples were collected during the last 24 hours and results of 117 people were found positive.

According to data, Safia Bibi, 58, from Dhamial Camp, was brought to Fauji Foundation Hospital on Sept 13 where she died on Saturday. Similarly Sufia Bibi, 70, a resident of Mohallah Ameer Hamza, and Ali Shah, 87, from Kotli Sattian were admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on Sept 17, but both died on Saturday.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 1,330 active patients out of whom 144 were admitted to hospitals and the remaining home isolated.

Around 41 patients arrived from the cantonment areas, 17 from the city areas and 22 patients came from Potohar Town. Five patients were brought from Kahuta, seven from Murree, eight patients each arrived from Kallar Syedan and Taxila, three from Kotli Sattian, two patients each arrived from Azad Kashmir and Attock and one each from Chakwal and Mianwali.

Out of the total admitted patients, 24 were in Holy Family Hospital, 42 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 44 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, five patients were in District Headquarters Hospital, 22 patients were admitted to Fauji Foundation Hospital, four were in Bilal Hospital, two patients were being treated at Hearts International Hospital and one at Akhtar Rukhsana Memorial Welfare Trust Hospital.

There are eight patients on ventilator in Rawalpindi, 72 on oxygen and 64 are stable.
