MQM-P urges SC to deliver ‘final verdict’ against Sindh govt

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Wednesday appealed to the Supreme Court to give decisions against the Sindh government instead of passing remarks while hearing important cases.

Speaking at a press conference here, senior MQM-P leader Senator Faisal Subzwari said that it had become a routine for the provincial government to “loot and plunder” resources at government level.

He said that the Sindh government was violating the law and the Constitution on several issues, including those relating to local government.

“We request the Supreme Court to pass judgements against the Sindh government as only remarks could not solve the problems,” he said.

Accompanied by other members of the coordination committee, Senator Subzwari said that the “racist and biased” Sindh government had ruined the health, sanitation and infrastructure of Karachi, Hyderabad and other parts of urban Sindh.

He said that youths of urban Sindh, including Hyderabad, were being intentionally deprived of employment.

He said that even ventilators installed at Hyderabad hospitals were moved to hospitals in Larkana.

MQM to observe Ayyam-i-Hijrat

The MQM-P leader said that all ethnicities in Pakistan had been celebrating their respective cultural day and the MQM-P would be celebrating Ayyam-i-Hijrat [days of migration] from Friday to Sunday.

He said that the Mohajirs did not belong to one particular region as people from all over India had migrated to Pakistan following the Partition and here they “proudly chose to call themselves Mohajir”.

He said as part of three-day celebrations the MQM-P would organise various events including dialogue, mushaira, qawwali, etc. “We will tell the people history of hundreds of thousands of people who sacrificed their lives during Pakistan Movement,” he added.

He said that a rally would be organised in Hyderabad on Oct 2 for the rights of urban Sindh.
