Special persons demand jobs

PESHAWAR: A group of persons with different physical disabilities on Thursday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure implementation of the job quota for the persons with disabilities and recruit skilled teachers in special persons’ schools.

Holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands, the special persons held a demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club and shouted slogans in support of their demands.

The protesters were led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Federation of Deaf and Dumbs president Hamidullah Khan Chamkani.

The protesters in a statement also demanded special financial support for the jobless special persons who suffered during the restrictions for containing Covid-19 pandemic. They also pointed out that the job quota meant for the disabled people was exploited by influential people with no physical disabilities and demanded probe into reports in this regard.

They said there was no proper mechanism to provide them with jobs in the public sector departments. They demanded of the government to appoint focal persons at the provincial level to facilitate them in communication with officials of different departments.
