Park named after Nawab Muzaffar

MUZAFFARGARH: The historical Tulhri Park was renamed as Nawab Muzaffar Park here on Friday.

The decision was taken by South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Saqib Zaffar, who after reaching here with 16 additional secretaries of as many departments of South Punjab secretariat, visited the park which has been renovated recently.

The 225-year-old park on 33 kanals has been declared ‘safari area’ after the district administration took action against illegal occupants who had grabbed various portions of the park that was famous for its 100-year-old datepalm trees.

Deputy Commissioner Amjad Shoaib Tareen told the ACS that projects had been started to build roads and other infrastructure in the park.

South Punjab Education Secretary Dr Ehtesham Anwar Mahar said that in Kot Addu Tehsil, a campus of COMSATS would be launched this year. He said the project of Muzaffargarh University was also under process.

Mr Saqib Zaffar was also briefed by the DC about the “million tree” planting and Khidmat Apki Dehleez Par projects in the district, besides mentioning beautification and cleanliness schemes.
