Two ‘IS militants’ held in Mauripur

KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department of the Sindh police and an intelligence agency jointly carried out a raid in Mauripur on Monday and arrested two suspects allegedly linked with the militant Islamic State group.

CTD official Mazhar Mashwani identified the suspects as Naseemullah alias Naseem and Mohammed Isa alias Molvi Idris. He claimed to have recovered two pistols from them.

He said that they got militancy training in Afghanistan and they were allegedly experts in handling explosives.

Naseemullah told investigators that he was the son-in-law of two killed ‘IS militants’ Hafeez Pandrani and Mohammed Siddiq as he married their daughters.

The official claimed that his both wives were also involved in transporting weapons and explosives to other militants.

He also claimed that Naseemullah had provided an explosive-laden vehicle to IS militant Abdullah Brohi in Khuzdar in 2013.

A case was registered against the duo and further investigations were underway.
