Central Selection Board considers cases of 450 civil servants for promotion

ISLAMABAD: The Central Selection Board (CSB) on Tuesday started deliberations upon cases of over 450 officers for promotion in BS-20 and BS-21 grades.

The CSB in its consecutive meetings from Sept 28 to 30 will consider the promotion cases of officers in different service cadres, including Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Secretariat Group, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, Postal Group, Foreign Service of Pakistan, Pakistan Customs Service, Inland Revenue Service, Information Group, Commerce and Trade Group, Police Service of Pakistan, Railways and Military Land and Cantonment.

The board will also consider cases of four deputy directors general in BS-20 of the Inter-Services Intelligence for the position of director general in BS-21 and 12 directors for the vacant posts of deputy directors general.

The CSB is also scheduled to examine cases of seven Intelligence Bureau officers for the posts of joint directors general and 18 IB officers for the posts of deputy directors general.

Sources said since the prime minister-led High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB) had delayed to consider the cases of BS-21 officers for promotion in BS-22, less vacancies were left in BS-21 grade and subsequently in BS-20.

Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan through a tweet had justified the delay in convening the meeting of the HPSB. He had tweeted: “Under Chairmanship of PM, a high-powered Board sits to decide promotions of bureaucrats from BPS 21 to 22. This Board mtg has been postponed for a couple of months bec I am scrutinising actual performance of these officers on the ground beyond routine performance assessments.”
