Rechecking of matric, intermediate papers demanded
KOHAT: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has rejected the recent matriculation and intermediate examination results announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, and demanded a NAB probe into alleged favouritism in marking of papers.
The demand was made at a meeting held at the party’s district secretariat here on Tuesday chaired by its district emir Maulana Abdul Raheem.
The participants also appealed to the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to cancel the results, and order rechecking of papers.
They also demanded detailed investigations into selection of invigilators for the exams, alleged irregularities in the examination halls and imprecise marking.
The JUI-F leaders warned that they would come onto roads if the grievances of thousands of students were not addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F Kohat general secretary Jameel Paracha questioned how could some students get more than 1,000 marks, in some cases 1,098 out of 1,100, when only three papers were held without taking the practical.
He claimed that some students were given marks as low as between 400 and 700.
The students of government postgraduate degree college for boys had staged a protest in front of the Kohat Press Club against the alleged favouritism in marking of papers.
RESTRICTIONS LIFTED: Restrictions imposed to curb spread of Covid-19 in the three union councils of Kohat located along the Hangu highway were lifted on Tuesday.
According to a notification issued from the office of deputy commissioner Roshan Mehsud, lockdown had been lifted in Alizai, Sher Kot and Ustarzai union councils.
The lockdown was enforced in the areas in light of the screening surveys conducted on Sept 22.
The restrictions were lifted on the recommendations of the district Covid committee.
PUBLIC PARK: The Orakzai district administration has identified three sites for building a public park in Mamozai area.
According to a notification, deputy commissioner Mohammad Khalid said the site for construction of park would be finalised keeping in view easy accessibility. He said the district sports officer and tehsildar, Upper Orakzai, had visited the sites to select one for the purpose.
