24 girls’ colleges set up in Punjab: minister

GUJAR KHAN: Out of the 26 new colleges established in Punjab, 24 are for girls as educating the nation remains to be the government’s priority.

This was pointed out by Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, the minister for higher education. He said the opening of new colleges in the province had been notified by his department.

According to a notification, three government associate colleges for girls were being opened in Rawalpindi district and these include Govt Associate College for Girls Chak Beli Khan, Rawalpindi tehsil; Govt Associate College for Girls Mandra and Govt Associate College for Women Kalriala, Gujar Khan.

The other colleges have been established in Jarranwala, Miranwala Bangla Faisalabad, Hazari, Jhang district; Ratta Matta, Sandh, Mianwali, T.T. Singh, Jhallan, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Mandiki Goraya, Ora, Saidpur, Narowal, Shakargarh, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Sardarpur, Kabirwala, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mohammadpur Diwan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Rahimyar Khan and Bahawalpur.

The minister said the department had introduced e-transfer application for the transferring of college teachers to stations of their choice and the window for receiving applications for transfers was on.
