PSX opens regional office in KP
KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) announced the inauguration of its regional office in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a gong ceremony held at its trading hall here on Wednesday.
Earlier, operations in the province were looked after by the PSX’s northern regional office in Islamabad.
Present at the ceremony were KP Minister for Finance and Health Taimur Khan Jhagra along with Special Assistant to the KP Chief Minister on Industry and Finance Abdul Karim Khan, KP Board of Investment and Trade CEO Hassan Daud Butt, PSX chairperson Dr Shamshad Akhtar and PSX CEO Farrukh H. Khan.
A press release said KP is an integral to Pakistan’s economy because of its industrial zones, business hubs, and centres of trade. The PSX felt the need to reach out to the business community of KP and channelise their liquid resources for investment, it added.
“The PSX will be in a position to facilitate the raising of capital for numerous infrastructure projects by the government and for corporates and businesses. The time is right for the PSX to enter the KP business and industry sector and fill the gap for financing and investment needs,” it said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan said the presence of the PSX in KP will support the expansion of business and investment activity as the province’s potential for savings and investments remains largely untapped.
“Many PSX brokers already have offices in KP. We look forward to working with them and others to help increase their footprint,” he said.
