Bizenjo concerned over ‘ignoring’ parliament on Afghan issue
CHAGAI: Senator Tahir Bizenjo has expressed reservations over ignoring of parliament over affairs related to Afghanistan and urged the government not to repeat past mistakes in this regard.
Talking to newsmen at the Circuit House in Dalbandin, Mr Bizenjo, who heads the National Party’s (NP) parliamentary group in the Senate, said an alarming situation was emerging in Afghanistan and its impact might affect Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“You can see parliament is being ignored as the situation in Afghanistan was discussed in the National Security Committee where only parliamentary leaders of the political parties were briefed by the army leadership,” he said.
The NP leader said all the parliamentarians should be taken into confidence. He said there should be a neutral foreign policy and the rulers should not repeat the policies of Gen Zia and Gen Musharraf.
In reply to a question about the current political situation in the province, Senator Bizenjo said members of the Balochistan government were fighting for their vested interests as they did not care about people’s rights.
He described the incumbent government as irresponsible and said the opposition also played an unsatisfactory role in the Balochistan Assembly.
“Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani has been giving funds to ruling and opposition members, besides giving funds to non-elected members of his party,” Mr Bizenjo said, adding that 70 per cent of the money was being misused. He cited the bad condition of roads as an example of bad governance in the province.
Earlier, the NP held a workers conference at the Circuit House in which party members from across Dalbandin district participated.
NP leaders Senator Kohda Akram Dashti, Dr Ishaq Baloch, Abdul Khaliq Baloch, Khair Bakhsh Baloch, Yasmin Lehri, Farooq Baloch, Sangat Saeed Baloch, Gul Mohammad Baloch, Mir Atif Baloch and others addressed the conference. It was followed by a question and answer session.
