ISLAMABAD: President Yahya Khan yesterday [Oct 5] called upon the universities to lay equal emphasis on the ideology of Pakistan while imparting knowledge.
“We need people who are not only equipped with sufficient know-how to manage various sectors of national life and the affairs of State but, are also completely committed to and cherish the ideology of Pakistan and work ceaselessly for the unity and integrity of the country,” he added. The President was addressing a distinguished and select gathering while inaugurating the new permanent campus of Islamabad University. — News agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from the UN,] Pakistan’s chief delegate to the United Nations General Assembly Mr Mahmud Ali, yesterday [Oct 5] warned of the possibility of a war between India and Pakistan if New Delhi rulers did not give up their policy of interference in his country’s internal affairs. He told a well-attended Press conference at the United Nations Correspondents Association Club that “my country was faced with a war-like situation”. ... It was the duty of the international community to prevent India from her interventionist course, [he] added. He was questioned on Pakistan’s relations with the Soviet Union.... “Our relations with Soviet Russia are friendly,” he said.
