CNG stations closed in Hazara for three days

MANSEHRA: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Saturday ordered the closure of compressed natural gas stations in Hazara division, including Mansehra district, for the next three days.

It, however, cited no reason for the move, which caught both filling station owners and motorists unawares.

A CNG station owner complained that the SNGPL suspended gas supply without prior notice.

He told reporters that he didn’t know when the gas supply would resume.

The drivers demanded an uninterrupted gas supply to CNG stations to their relief.

“Most transport vehicles in our area use CNG, so the suspension of its sale has distressed us all drivers,” said taxi driver Mohammad Saeed.

The drivers of transport vehicles demanded an immediate restoration of gas supply to CNG stations.

SUSPENDED: District police officer Sajjad Khan has ordered the suspension of assistant sub-inspector Mohammad Shahzad and head constable Sultan Tipu for illegally detaining a man at the city police station here.

He issued the orders during a surprise visit of the DPO to the police station.

The DPO also visited various sections of the police station and directed the moharrar and other staff members to treat visitors and accused politely.

Meanwhile, a terror suspect man wanted by Karachi police was held from the Karakoram Highway here.

The DPO said Mohammad Kashif had attacked the office of the SP Malir in Karachi along with other outlaws and took away three accused in a firing case.

He said the terror suspect would be handed over to Karachi police on the completion of formalities.

Meanwhile, the Hazara University and NGO Saibaan joined hands to promote scientific research and develop linkages of students with international universities.

HU Vice-Chancellor Dr Jamil Ahmad and chief executive officer of Saibaan Sahibzada Jawad Alfaizi signed the memorandum of understating during a ceremony here.

Under the MoU, Saibaan will also provide internship to HU students in various fields.
