PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said here on Monday that there should be no comprise on timely completion of high priority projects and warned that disciplinary action would be taken against the officials responsible for delay.

He was chairing a meeting here on Monday to review progress on the high priority projects of the government. He said that government was serious in completion of those projects within next couple of years, according to a statement.

The chief minister decided to chair a meeting on monthly basis to review progress on the high priority projects. He directed the administrative secretaries to attend those meeting in person to apprise him of the progress on projects of their respective departments.

Besides Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Amjad Ali Khan, the administrative secretaries of the departments concerned and other high ups attended the meeting.

Mr Khan directed the planning and development department to regularly monitor progress on those projects. He also told the administrative secretaries to hold fortnight meetings to review progress on their respective projects.

The meeting was informed that during the preparation of budget for current financial year, a total of 216 high priority projects were identified out of which 94 were related to tribal districts. So far, two of the projects have been completed whereas progress on 205 is according to target. Online tracking system has been developed to monitor progress on those projects.

The chief minister said that all the departments were required to avoid the traditional way of working and deliver extraordinarily to ensure timely completion of the projects without compromising on the quality of work and adherence to the relevant rules and regulations.

He directed the health, education and local government departments to further improve their service delivery.

He said that all the service delivery departments were required to come up to the public expectations.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to celebrate Ashra-i-Rahmatul Lil Aalameen and Eid Miladun Nabi with religious fervour across the province.

This was decided in a meeting held here on Monday with chief minister in the chair. The meeting also decided to organise a Seerat conference at provincial level.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that government would celebrate Ashra-i-Rahmatul Lil Aalameen in a befitting manner.

He directed the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to involve religious scholars, political leaders and people from different walks of life in those celebration activities.
