Highest number of dengue cases reported in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The season’s highest number of dengue cases was reported in the capital on Thursday.

DHO Dr Zaeem Zia said 125 cases emerged on Thursday which was the highest since Oct 9 when 121 cases were reported.

He said 78 were reported from rural and 47 from urban areas of the capital. He said 29 patients were admitted at the Federal Government Hospital, 14 at Holy Family Hospital, six at Pims, five at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, two each at Polyclinic, Capital Hospital and DHQ hospital while the others were in private hospitals.

The tally of the dengue cases in the capital reached 1,528.

As many as 79 dengue patients landed in three government hospitals on Thursday which increased the tally to 713.

Doctors said in the current week 321 people contracted the disease.

According to data, 87 patients were admitted at the HFH, 15 at BBH and 48 at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

“New beds have added to the hospitals and now there are 150 beds in the HFH, 30 in the BBH and 69 in the DHQ hospital,” a senior official said.
