No-trust motion against CM will succeed, says Bizenjo

QUETTA: Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, acting president of Balochistan Awami Party Mir Zahoor Buledi and spokesperson for BAP Abdul Rahman Khetiran have claimed that the no-trust motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani would be successful.

“The chief minister wants to fight the no-confidence motion instead of resigning. The whole situation will become clear in the assembly. Members of our group are united. People close to the chief minister are in touch with us,” they said while talking to the media outside the airport after arrival in Quetta.

Mr Bizenjo said bringing a no-confidence motion was a democratic right of the members of the assembly and if the chief minister wanted to contest, he could do so.

He said the no-confidence motion would be tabled in the assembly on October 20 as per the constitutional requirement and everything would be clear then.

He said there would be no floor crossing as majority of members as well as the party president were with them.

Mr Bizenjo said it would not be fair for Mr Alyani to announce his resignation as the acting president of the party was appointed.

He said the prime minister had asked the chief minister to exercise his democratic right on the floor of the assembly.

Acting president of BAP Mir Zahoor Buledi said on the occasion that Mr Alyani had resigned as party chief voluntarily and the working committee approved it and waited for 10 days to see if he could withdraw his resignation.

“Party’s secretary general suggested my name to the Election Commission of Pakistan as acting president,” he said. He said that it was ridiculous for the chief minister to contact the ECP.

“My intention is not to run for office. According to the party constitution, the three-year term of the cabinet has come to an end,” he said.

“We will convene a council session in November to elect a new president as per the deadline set by the ECP,” he said.

Mr Buledi said that if Mr Alyani wanted to become the BAP president again, he should go to the ECP and participate in the elections, instead of submitting applications.

He said that no-one had forced Mr Alyani to resign from the party presidency.

Meanwhile, Mr Alyani asked Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo to abide by his oath as the speaker.

He tweeted: “I advise Mr Bizenjo to abide by his oath as Speaker of the House. At least to conduct impartial affairs in the public and media where the Speaker has been appointed.”
