KRC unveils prospectus of cup races

KARACHI: The Karachi Race Club (KRC) has released a prospectus that envisaged classical and semi-classical races spread over seven months in 2021-2022 enabling owners and trainers to plan for the big events ahead of schedule.

Contrary to the past practices, the KRC has published the programme in a beautiful 32-page booklet for the first time.

As per prospectus, the races have commenced with effect from Oct three and culminate on April three.

Altogether, 29 top races have been listed in the prospectus including the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup.

Like always, the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup is the blue-ribbon event of the KRC calendar and will go over 10/12 furlongs. It will take place on Dec 25.

The Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup has been designed for three and four-year-old and above thoroughbred and half-bred horses.

Besides, the day will see four more cups — the Nursery Cup, the 2000 Guineas of Pakistan, The X-Mas Cup and The Rasheed Jung Memorial Cup.

Other prominent races that feature in the prospectus are the Stewards Cup (Nov 7), the Kingree Lodge Performance Cup (Nov 14), the Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara VII Memorial Cup (Nov 21), the Fantastic Face Stakes, the Colts and Fillies Trial Cup and the Quaid-e-Azam Trial Cup (Dec 5), the New Year Cup (Jan 2, The Admiral’s Cup (Jan 23), the Chairman Cup (Jan 30), the Valentine’s Day Cup (Feb 13), and the Pakistan Day Cup (March 27).
