No-trust motion against CM Alyani to be tabled on 20th

QUETTA: The provincial governor has called a session of the Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday in which the no-trust motion submitted by angry lawmakers of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and allied parties against Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani would be moved.

According to an official notification issued on Saturday, Governor Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha has signed the summary sent to him for convening a special assembly session after returning to Quetta from Islamabad.

“The Provincial Assembly session will be held on October 20 at 4 PM,” the notification said, adding that the no-trust motion would be tabled in the house.

The no-trust motion, signed by 14 members of the BAP, Balochistan National Party (Awami) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, was handed over to the assembly secretary on Oct 11. The members asked Mr Alyani to step down from the office of the chief minister to avoid the no-trust motion.

However, the CM rejected the demand and said that he would not resign, claiming he enjoyed the support of the majority of Balochistan Awami Party and allied parties’ lawmakers.

On the other hand, the disgruntled group, which has support of 15 MPAs, claims that they have support of more than required members for the success of the no-trust motion in the house of 65 members.
