Missing policeman found dead in Bajaur
BAJAUR: The police on Saturday recovered the body of a missing cop from a mountain in Alizai area of Khar tehsil here, officials said.
They said the victim, Liqat Ali, had been missing since Friday afternoon, adding the police found the cop’s body on information from villagers.
The officials said the body was shifted to the district headquarter hospital for postmortem.
They said there was a bullet mark on the victim’s head, which probably caused his death.
Meanwhile, Suleman Khan, the public relations officer of the district police officer, told Dawn that personal enmity could be the reason behind the cop’s murder.
He said the victim’s family had nominated their alleged opponents in the FIR registered with the police.
However, the officer said names of the accused could not be disclosed so as to ensure their early arrest.
He said the police investigators had also recovered a spent shell from near the body, and collected other evidence from the crime scene.
According to the area people, the deceased policeman was the close relative of a local elder, Malik Laal Shahzada.
In a separate development, a girl was killed and two others were injured when they were hit by a landslide in Utmankhel teshil of Bajaur tribal district on Saturday, residents and Rescue 1122 officials said.
They said the incident occurred in Sikandro Manoo Derai locality.
The residents said a man along with two girls was busy in collecting soil from a mound when it fell on them.
The locals retrieved the three from the rubble in serious condition.
Later, a Rescue 1122 ambulance shifted them to the district headquarters hospital after giving them first aid.
However, one of the wounded, identified as Abina Bibi, was pronounced dead at hospital.
Also in the day, a 35-year-old man suffered injuries when his motorcycle overturned due to over-speeding in Takhat area of Khar.
