Eight prisoners released from Attock jail
TAXILA: At least eight prisoners involved in petty crimes were released after Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Syed Ali Abbas on Sunday issued orders for their release on personal surety bonds during a surprise visit to Attock jail.
Judicial Magistrate Yasir Tanveer, Jail Superintendent Farrukh Rasheed, Deputy Superintendent Afzaal Ahmed Warriach and other jail officers were also present.
During his visit, the judge visited the hospital, kitchen, barracks, public call office established for prisoners, juvenile jail and checked the progress of students studying at the prison school.
Prisoners are being provided opportunities of being trained in different vocational skills at the jail and they should take advantage of these facilities to mend their lives.
He highlighted the need to make juvenile prisoners useful citizens after their release from jails and said that as they were the future of the country, adequate arrangements must be made for their training.
He was also taken to the vocational training centre where young prisoners were participating in different technical courses including repair of electrical appliances to help them earn livelihood after completing their sentences.
Mr Abbas expressed his satisfaction over the quality of facilities being provided to inmates inside the jail.
Earlier, Jail Superintendent Farrukh Rasheed received the judges upon their arrival in the prison. He also briefed the judges about the facilities being given to the inmates in jail.
Upon their arrival, they were presented guard of honor by a smart contingent of jail guards.
