CM House in Gilgit offers free meal
GILGIT: The Chief Minister’s House here on Sunday started offering free meal (Lungar) to the general public in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan opened the facility.
Later, addressing a press conference, he said celebration of the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would be the biggest event in the region to mark the auspicious occasion in a befitting manner, according to a press release.
Mr Khurshid said functions and rallies would be organised to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi in all the districts of the region.
He said a special Mehfil-i-Milad would be held at the CM Secretariat on Sunday night, and appealed to the general public to participate in it.
The Holy Prophet is the Prophet of Mercy of the universe. We have to live our lives following in His footsteps, the chief minister appealed.
He also asked the general public to celebrate the day at individual level. “This day will create harmony, peace and stability,” he said.
Mr Khurshid said important government buildings, including the Governor and CM Houses, had been illuminated for the occasion.
A large number of people, including Speaker GB Assembly Syed Amjad Zaidi, ministers and media representatives, had gathered at the CM House.
