Five killed in separate incidents in Rawalpindi, Islamabad

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Five people were killed in different parts of the twin cities - two in Islamabad and three in Rawalpindi - on Monday.

Police said Hamid Masih, 75, lost his life after being hit by a car on Burma Road.

The incident occurred when he was crossing the road. The car driver escaped from the spot.

In another accident, a nine-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a pickup at Mera Beghwal. The injured was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as Faridullah.

On the other hand, police in Rawalpindi said a 14-year-old girl was gunned down by an unidentified person in Sadiqabad.

Hafeezullah complained to the police that he was going to his shop when his brother informed him that his daughter had been shot by an unidentified person. She was being shifted to hospital when she succumbed to her injuries, he said.

Hamid Sadiq complained to the City police that his elder brother, Amir Sadiq, who owned a cloth shop in Raja Bazaar, telephoned his wife and informed her that he had a jirga with Sheikh Hafeez to settle a monetary dispute.

He said after waiting for a long time, his brother’s wife called her husband and asked him why he was so late and with whom he was holding talks.

In reply, Amir informed his wife that he was sitting with Mirza Khawar Nisar and five other people to settle the dispute.

The complainant said his brother’s wife attempted to contact her husband again but could not get in touch with him.

After some time, Hamid was informed by someone on the phone that his brother Amir had been brought to the District Headquarters Hospital with critical injuries. Hamid said his brother had died before being brought to the hospital.

He suspected that his brother was murdered by the six people who were holding a jirga with him. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the murder.

Earlier on Saturday night, a man was stabbed to death allegedly by his father over a petty issue in Ratta Amral.

The mother of the deceased complained to the police that his elder son Danyal Khan, who worked abroad, went to Bari Imam with his wife as he had to travel back to UAE.

She said as her son and his wife came back, he was taunted by his father Dilbar Khan over visiting Bari Imam without his permission. Later, Dilbar Khan allegedly stabbed his son to death.
