Four killed in car-trailer collision on motorway

TOBA TEK SINGH: Four people died in an accident between a car and a trailer on motorway near Chak 71-JB on Friday.

Reports said a car was on way from Shorkot to Faisalabad when it hit the rear side of the trailer. Four car occupants Hassan Raza, Abdullah, Haji Safdar and Umer – all cousins – suffered injuries and were shifted to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Three people were taking kidney patient Haji Safdar Kamlana to the Allied Hospital for his dialysis when their car collided with a trailer which was wrongly taking a U-turn between interchanges of Painsara and Aminpur.

A motorway police official said the trailer had brought fruits from Afghanistan to the fruit and vegetable market in Faisalabad.

The trailer driver and his helper made good their escape. Police impounded the vehicle.

The deceased were laid to rest at Basti Islam near Shorkot. Thousands of people including MNA Sahibzada Ameer Sultan and MPAs Asif Kathia and Ghazanfar Abbas Qureshi attended the funeral prayers.
