Lawyer shoots ‘mugger’ to death in Karachi's Clifton

KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a lawyer in Clifton on Saturday, police said.

Boat Basin SHO Naseer Tanoli said Advocate Agha Imtiaz was travelling in a chauffeur-driven car when three robbers riding a motorcycle intercepted him near the Baloch Ice Cream. They demanded his cell phone and wallet.

As the lawyer put up resistance, the robbers fired at him, but luckily the bullet missed the target. The suspects snatched his purse from the advocate and tried to escape. The lawyer pulled out his licensed pistol and fired at the fleeing robbers.

The police said one of them was hit in the back and fell from the bike. Two others managed to escape leaving behind their two-wheeler that was taken into custody by the police.

The suspect died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
