4 cities to be incentivised over excellent Covid-19 vaccination

ISLAMABAD: While over 70 million people have got at least one shot of vaccine and more than 40m have become fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to incentivise four cities from Nov 1 for their excellent vaccination progress.

Nine more cities have showed good vaccination performance, leaving all other cities behind for low vaccination progress.

According to the NCOC data, 103,514,198 doses of vaccine have been administered and 70,139,040 people have got at least one dose of vaccine and 40,016,932 people have become fully vaccinated.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, who also heads the NCOC, also announced it on social media.

“We continue to make progress to vaccinate Pakistan. The year-end target for 2021 was 7 crore [70 million] people vaccinated. Happy to report that 7 crore people have now received at least 1 dose and 4 crore are fully vaccinated. With 2 months to go, will Insha Allah meet, and exc­e­ed, the target,” he tweeted.

According to a NCOC document available with Dawn, Islamabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gilgit and Mirpur cities have fully vaccinated over 60pc vaccine-eligible population and have been included in the category of excellent vaccination progress or top category.

Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Peshawar, Bagh, Bhimber, Ghizer, Hunza, Kharmang and Skardu cities have fully vaccinated 40pc to 60pc population and have been placed in second or good vaccination progress category.

In the remaining cities less than 40pc population has been fully vaccinated due to which they have been placed in third or low vaccination progress category.
