Three killed, 20 injured in car-bus collision

NAROWAL: Three car riders, including two sisters, were killed and 20 passengers of a bus were injured in a collision between the two vehicles on Muridke Road on Monday.

The Lahore-bound bus was coming from Shakargarh via Narowal. The accident was so severe that the car was completely destroyed and two sisters, Rafia Sajjad, 23, and Malaika Sajjad, 18, residents of Lahore, and the car driver died on the spot.

The injured bus passengers included Saqiba Bibi, 27, Anjum, 45, Anil, 3, Bashir, 50, Khadim Hussain, 50, Saeed Anwar, 29, Muhammad Waseem, 31, Talha, 24, Nabila Danish, Hira Bibi, Sabir and Sajjad.

A large number of locals reached the spot and the Rescue 1122, with their help of locals, pulled the injured from the bus.

The rescuers provided first aid to the passengers and shifted the critically injured as well as bodies of the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital, Narowal.

Dr Muhammad Bilal of the DHQ Hospital said four of the injured were in a critical condition.

Sialkot District Emergency Officer Engineer Naveed Iqbal said a team of Rescue 1122 from Pasrur tehsil had also reached the spot.

Police handed over the bodies of both the sisters to their relatives after a post-mortem.

The car driver was still unidentified when this report was filed. According to Rescue 1122 sources, the accident occurred due to high speed of the bus and it overturned after hitting the car.
