Protest drive to continue till PTI govt’s ouster, says Bilawal
LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that his party’s ongoing campaign against unprecedented price hike, unemployment and poverty will continue till the ouster of the [Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf] government.
He was speaking at gatherings of party workers in various union councils of his constituency including Moenjodaro on Monday.
Mr Bhutto-Zardari flew into Moenjodaro and drove to the venue of a similar gathering after visiting UCs 9 and 10 of Larkana. Sindh PPP president Nisar Khuhro, MNA Khursheed Junejo, provincial ministers Syed Sardar Shah and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, CM’s Adviser Zia Abbas Shah and Liaquat Askani were among those accompanying him.
The PPP chairman termed last Friday’s province-wide protest campaign a success, and said the second phase would be announced shortly. He said protests, rallies and demonstrations would continue till the “selected government is sent packing”.
He said people were unable to send their children to schools and afford medical treatment due to the unprecedented price hike. Contrary to his promise of creating 10 million jobs, the PTI government retrenched even those several thousand workers who had been provided jobs by PPP government, he said.
He also criticised the federal government for failing to save people’s houses from demolition.
“The masses are suffering due to flawed and directionless economic policies of the government,” he said.
Jamil Soomro, Aijaz Leghari, Abdul Fatah Bhutto, Sohail Anwar Siyal, Dr Shafqat Soomro, Dr Sakina Gaad and Farhat Sami Soomro attended several meetings chaired by Mr Bhutto-Zardari in Moenjodaro.
