President calls for educating youth about loan schemes

PESHAWAR: President Dr Arif Alvi has called for guiding and educating people, particularly women and youth, to benefit from the government loan schemes like Kamyab Jawan Programme and Insaf Rozgar Scheme.

He was speaking at a briefing about the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government at Chief Minister’s House here on Thursday, said an official statement. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, provincial ministers and senior officials attended the meeting.

The president said that provincial governments along with the chambers of commerce and industry needed to raise awareness among youth about the government’s loan schemes that would help to generate employment opportunities as well as enable youth to establish their own businesses.

President Alvi was briefed about the performance of the provincial government and the development activities being undertaken in the province.

He was informed that provincial government was focusing on the development of newly merged districts of erstwhile Fata.

He was informed that the executive merger of tribal districts had already been completed whereas 901 projects worth Rs491 billion had been approved for those districts. The meeting was updated about the progress on projects, being undertaken in tribal districts, in different sectors.

Addressing the meeting, President Arif Alvi highlighted the need to further improve the ease of doing business in the provinces to attract foreign investment.

He also stressed the need for focusing on the development of minerals and mining sector.

He said that it had great potential for development of the province and providing employment opportunities to the local people.

The president lauded the mechanism of alternate dispute resolution for the newly merged districts that would help to provide speedy and inexpensive justice to the people as well as reduce burden on the judiciary.

He appreciated the performance of the provincial government in resolving the issues of tribal districts by regularly holding consultative sessions with the people of the area.

He expressed satisfaction over extension of Sehat Insaf Cards scheme to newly merged districts. Now the entire population of the province is benefiting from the social health initiative.
