Young man shot dead, father wounded in Surjani Town
KARACHI: A young man was shot dead and his 60-year-old father critically wounded in Surjani Town on Monday afternoon, police said.
They said that Syed Jehanzeb, 35, was killed and his father, Syed Shabihul Hasan hurt in Sector-4-B.
SSP-West Suhai Aziz said that the victims had four plots in Mohammed Hasan Goth. Recently, a man, identified as Razzak Tabani, had installed banners inscribing with ‘Jamia Masjid Deobandi’ and started offering prayer there.
She said when the father and son visited the place they had a quarrel with him afterwards suspect Tabani fired at them. As a result, the young man was killed.
Police say the incident was motivated by a property dispute
She said the condition of the wounded father was stated to be critical. The police arrested the suspect.
The SSP said it was a property dispute, which led to the killing and it had no religious or sectarian motives.
‘Stray bullet’ kills man in sea
A 50-year-old man suffered a bullet wound and died while travelling in a boat in the sea on Monday evening, police said.
The Mauripur police in a statement said that Habib Roshan was “hit by a stray bullet in the sea near the Himalya firing range” while travelling in a boat.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
Area SHO Bhai Khan said that they were trying to ascertain as to how the incident took place.
There was a dispute between Mauripur and Docks police station over the issue of jurisdiction.
