Covid-19 surveillance conducted in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The district administration of Islamabad, on the directives of the national health services ministry, conducted Covid-19 surveillance of several areas of the capital to prevent the disease from spreading in selected sectors and took action against violators.

Furthermore, 38 people - 29 in Islamabad and nine in Rawalpindi - were diagnosed with the disease while nine were discharged from hospitals after recovery. As per APP, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported 18 cases in Islamabad on Tuesday while 20 cases were reported on Monday.

Teams of the district administration started taking action against violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) while visiting marriage halls, markets and petrol pumps. The teams had been asked to take action against violators in shops, workshops and restaurants.

So far 107,198 cases and 947 deaths were reported from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) while 105,933 patients recovered. The teams had been directed to issue notices to marriage halls and impose fines on owners of different shops in case of violation of SOPs.

Commenting on the situation, an official of the Ministry of National Health Services said several local-level administrative decisions were made to control the disease.

He advised citizens to continue maintaining social distancing, use masks and adopt precautionary measures to stop increasing transmission of Covid-19 in the city.

Rawalpindi

There are 96 active patients in Rawalpindi district. As many as 19 are in hospitals including nine who arrived from other districts and 77 patients are home isolated.

The positivity ratio in Rawalpindi district was recorded at 0.6 per cent as the region saw a decline in the number of cases during the past one week while 1,495 samples were collected out of which 1,486 were declared negative.

Two patients each arrived from cantonment and city areas respectively and three from Potohar Town. One patient each arrived from Taxila and Chakwal.

Three patients were admitted in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 11 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), four in Fauji Foundation Hospital and one patient in Bilal Hospital.
