Plan reviewed for new union councils in Quetta

QUETTA: A meeting presided over by the Quetta division commissioner reviewed the plan for formation and upgrade of new union councils in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

The meeting decided that new union councils would be set up in all districts of Quetta keeping in view the increasing population and more civic facilities would be provided there.

The meeting was informed that a special committee would prepare its report on the increase in population of the union councils after conducting a thorough survey. In the light of that survey the number of union councils would be increased, the meeting was told.

Presiding over the meeting, Quetta Commissioner Sohail-ur-Rehman Baloch said that establishment of new union councils had become inevitable to resolve problems being faced by the masses.

“With the formation of new union councils, basic problems of the people would be resolved at their doorsteps and social development will be possible,” the commissioner said.
