JUI-F starts awarding LG election tickets in Kohat

KOHAT: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl here on Tuesday started awarding party tickets for the youth, peasant and general seats to candidates from union councils Cheechanna, Jarma and Muslimabad for the upcoming local government elections.

On this occasion, the party office-bearers claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government wanted to avoid LG elections to escape imminent defeat.

In this regard, a meeting was held at Al-Hafiz Bargain Centre which was chaired by JUI-F district chief Maulana Abdur Raheem and attended by secretary general Qari Sher Zaman, Hafiz Saeed, Malik Taj and others.

The tickets were distributed among candidates from Jarma 1 and 2 and Muslimabad 1 and 2 areas. Hafiz Saeed said the people wanted to get rid of the present government and claimed that JUI-F would win the elections with a big margin.

KILLED: A proclaimed offender wanted by police and his alleged accomplice were killed in an ambush by their rivals on their car in Sumari area here on Tuesday.

Police said PO Noor Hayat and his friend Nooral Badshah were coming from a funeral when their enemies opened fire on their car. Both died on the spot.

However, Fawad Khan, son of Hayat, remained unhurt.

The police have registered a double murder case against Shafi, Tariq, Farooq, Kashmali Khan and Haji on the complaint of Fawad.

AWARDED: The district administration under its initiative of ‘Doctor of the Month’ awarded selected male and female medical officers for Oct 2021 with condemnation certificates here on Tuesday.

The doctors who were honoured for their best services during Oct 2021 included medical officer of the DHQ hospital Dr Hira Ejaz, Dr Kamal Alam of police services hospital, Dr Naseem Ullah of Shindhand basic health unit, Dr Saleem Ullah DHQ hospital and Dr Raza Ali and Dr Nabeela of Liaquat Memorial Hospital.

Speaking at the ceremony, additional deputy commissioner Bashir Ahmed said that doctors were discharging their duties in remote places despite several challenges.

Kohat medical college principal Dr Laal Mohammad was the chief guest on the occasion and DHQ hospital medical superintendent Dr Nasir Hussain guest of honour.
