KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate (west) Asif Raza Meer on Friday ordered police to arrest a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmaker and his aides and directed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to block his computerised national identity card (CNIC) in a case pertaining to hurling death threats and attacking a man and his family.

PTI MPA Malik Shahzad Awan is an absconding suspect in the case.

The investigating officer of the case filed a charge sheet against PTI MPA Awan and his aides Imran Shah, Qaiser and three unknown persons and said that they had allegedly tortured a man, forcibly entered his house and committed theft.

IO Inspector Jahanzeb stated that complainant Muhammad Aslam Awan said he was present at his house in Mianwali Para in Baldia Town on the night of July 2, 2019 when MPA Awan, Shah, Qaiser and three unknown men entered. The lawmaker hit the complainant’s son with rifle butt breaking the fingers of his right hand.

It further stated that the complainant woke up and MPA Awan told him to withdraw his application he had lodged with the Mauripur police station against him. The lawmaker also allegedly stole a cheque from his house. Before leaving he hurled death threats if the complainant failed to follow his direction.

The IO said he visited the place of the incident, recorded statements of eyewitnesses and collected other material evidence, which proved that the MPA and others had committed the offence. He requested the magistrate to accept the charge sheet.

A case was registered under Sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 506-B (criminal intimidation), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to committing of the theft) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Indictment in girl’s rape, murder case on 6th

A model court deferred on Friday framing of charges against a suspect held for allegedly abducting a six-year-old girl and murdering her after rape.

The Zaman Town police arrested the suspect for kidnap, rape and murder of the minor girl whose body was found dumped at a garbage collection point in Korangi 5½ area on July 28.

On Friday, the matter came up before the model criminal trial court (East) and the suspect was produced from prison. However, his defence counsel was called absent.

Counsel for complainant Advocate Muzzamil Mumtaz alleged that the defence counsel was implying delaying tactics. The judge, however, postponed the indictment till Dec 6 directing the counsel for the parties to ensure their presence on the next date.

On a previous date, the suspect had reportedly recorded his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code, confessing to have sexually assaulted the minor girl and killing her since he was afraid of being caught.

According to the victim’s father, the suspect is their neighbour. He said that on the fateful night, his three daughters were playing in the street at around 9pm after a power breakdown in their area. He added that at around 11pm, his two daughters returned home but the third one did not come back.
