ISLAMABAD: President Gen. A.M. Yahya Khan, has sent a communication to the United Nation’s Secretary-General, U Thant, inviting his attention to the rapidly deteriorating situation as a result of unprovoked and large-scale attacks on Pakistan territory by the Indian Armed Forces. In his communication sent yesterday [Nov 28], the President has proposed the stationing of UN Observers in East Pakistan side to observe and report on violations of Pakistan’s territory. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in the United Nations,] Ambassador Agha Shahi told the UN General Assembly that the Indian objective in attacking Pakistan was to dismember it and emerge as a dominant power in the region. Speaking in right of reply, he said the recent Indo-Soviet military pact had bolstered India in launching this aggression.

In his hard-hitting reply to Indian Ambassador Samar Sen’s assertion that India was not involved in the attack, he said the whole world knew about its involvement and was conceded by New Delhi itself. Ambassador Shahi said that the Indian objective was to grab some territory, set up a rebel government and then make a case for recognition.
