CM orders start of classes in Dir medical college

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the authorities of health department to complete all arrangements in order to ensure commencement of classes in the Timergara Medical College, Lower Dir, from the upcoming academic session.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting to review progress on the establishment of Timergara Medical College, says a statement issued here on Friday.

Provincial cabinet members Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Shafiullah Khan, additional chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah, principal secretary to chief minister Amjad Ali Khan, secretary health Tahir Orakzai, Khyber Medical University vice-chancellor Dr Ziaul Haq and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

Briefing the participants about the progress on Timergara Medical College, it was stated that the district headquarters hospital, Timergara, had been notified as teaching hospital of the college, adding that the statement of new expenditures had already been approved for 436 positions, including that of faculty.

The chief minister on this occasion directed the quarters concerned to initiate the hiring process on the newly-approved positions for faculty and other staff. Besides, he directed the authorities of health department to present proposals for the establishment of a nursing college in Dir.
