150 women inheritance plaints redressed in six months

TOBA TEK SINGH: Punjab Ombudsperson Nabila Hakim Ali Khan says her office is active to give rights to women in inheritance and has cleared 150 applications (of inheritance cases) during the last six months in the province.

She was listening to applicants at the court room of the Commissioner Office in Faisalabad on Saturday.

Properties Branch head Hafiz Farooq Anwar and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Tariq Mehmood Gondal were also present. The ombudsperson said steps were being taken to resolve the issues of women regarding inheritance.

Talking to media, she said in some cases women were given property rights of their inheritance but they were denied possession of property by male relatives due to which they were forced to move her offices and courts.

She said that with the implementation of the Punjab Enforcement of Women’s Property Rights Act, the cases were now being resolved expeditiously.

The provincial ombudsperson also presided over an awareness seminar on women’s property rights and Women protection Act and said that providing a conducive environment in workplace to women was an utmost necessary.

NA Standing Committee Chairman Faizullah Kamooka, ADCG Qaiser Abbas Rind, and women serving in various public and private sectors were also present.

The MNA said immediate solution to problems faced by women and acquisition of property and giving them justice was the priority of the present government.

COMPLAINTS: On the direction of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the Revenue Awami Khidmat Katchehri was held at the DC Complex in Faisalabad on Saturday.

DC Ali Shahzad listened to public complaints regarding revenue matters and directed the revenue staff to redress the issues speedily.

During the Revenue Awami Khidmat Services, 69 applicants identified the problems in Tehsil City and Sadar out of which 54 were solved on the spot while the remaining applications would be processed and reported within three days.

The Revenue Awami Khidmat Services were also held at Tehsil Jaranwala, Samundri, Tandlianwala and Chak Jhumra.
