Police say two murder suspects held after encounter

KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two suspects, wanted in a murder case, after an “encounter” in Shah Latif Town.

Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur identified the suspects as Shah Fahad and Umer, and said that they had allegedly killed a man, Mohammed Shafiq, and injured two brothers last Tuesday.

According to the police officer, the suspects confessed to have killed the man and wounded two other persons after looting him.

The SSP said that the suspects were also involved in dozens of street crimes along with their associates. Efforts were under way to arrest their associates, he added.

‘Killer of two labourers’ held

The Sachal police on Thursday arrested what they claimed “the main suspect” in an incident of murder of two labourers at Jamali Pull off Superhighway on Dec 30.

According to East SSP Qamar Raza Jiskani, the suspect, Saeed, had killed Mumtaz Bhatti and Abdul Latif when the latter posed resistance in their robbery bid. Police claimed to have recovered the weapon and the bike used in the crime.
