Governor, CM discuss post-Murree storm measures

LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar met at the Governor House on Wednesday and discussed political and administrative matters, including the steps taken after the Murree tragedy and distribution of the Insaf Health Card to all families in Punjab.

The chief minister, it is learnt, informed the governor that investigations into the Murree tragedy had started and SOPs were being revised to avoid such grievous happenings.

The chief minister said the comprehensive investigation report would be available in a couple of days and added that anyone found guilty in the light of the inquiry report would be dealt with an iron.

“Those responsible would not escape punishment,” the chief minister said and added that long-term planning was being done to prevent such galling incidents in future.

Chiding the opposition, both the governor and the chief minister said the incumbent PTI government had taken exemplary steps in health, education and other sectors only to make people strong and prosperous.

The governor said Pakistan faced economic and other problems due to poor policies of the previous governments, but today the same political opponents were trying to fool the nation by spreading negative propaganda against the government. He said the nation had, however, rejected the opposition.

Mr Sarwar stressed that the political opponents should not score political points in the matter of the economy rather should support the steps taken by the government for the bright and vibrant future of Pakistan.

The chief minister said the agenda of the opposition was to save their corruption, but Prime Minister Imran Khan had promised the nation that corrupt people would not be forgiven under any circumstances. The governor also appreciated the chief minister for providing Insaf Health Card to every family in the province.
