Govt not implementing Gwadar agreement: Maulana Hidayat

GWADAR: Leader of the ‘Gwadar rights movement’ Maulana Hidayat-Ur-Rehman has alleged that the provincial government is not serious in resolving the issues agreed in the accord signed for ending 32-day sit-in in Gwadar.

Speaking at a gathering in Turbat on Thursday, he said that the people were facing serious problems across the province due to the ignorance of the authorities.

He said it was agreed in the accord that the provincial government would take immediate steps for stopping illegal fishing near Makran coast and people involved in border trade with Iran would be provided facilities.

He said illegal fishing had continued and so far the system was not changed for the border trade. “The people of Gwadar and other areas are still being humiliated at the check-posts by the forces,” the Maulana claimed.

He said that the government had not started paying salaries to the employees of Turbat municipalty and it was unfortunate that it did not even have the money to pay their salaries.

He warned of dire consequences if the agreement was not implemented.

He also demanded action against the elements involved in the drug business.

Opposing enforced disappearance, he demanded immediate recovery of the missing youths.

Later, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman had a meeting with Commissioner of Makran Shabbir Ahmed Mengal and demanded removal of unnecessary check-posts and payment of salaries to the employees.
