Baby girl kidnapped from Data Darbar

LAHORE: A three-month-old girl was kidnapped from Data Darbar on Tuesday.

A woman, Tehreen of Shadipura, visited the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA) along with her nine-year-old son, Ehtisham, and three-month-old daughter, Beenish.

A police official said that Tehreem handed over her infant daughter to her son and went inside the shrine to offer prayers. As she entered the shrine, a gang of women approached the boy and took away his minor sister from him on some pretext.

The official said the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in and outside the shrine showed a woman engaged with Ehtisham while the another woman kidnapped the infant girl. He said police searched the entire shrine to trace the kidnappers to no avail.

The police official said a case had been lodged against unidentified women on complaint of Tehreem’s brother.

The inspector general of police took notice of the incident and directed the Lahore police high-ups to recover the child.
