Indian deer caught by locals shifted to Lahore Safari Park

NAROWAL: A rare Indian deer that entered Pakistani territory was caught by the locals and was later handed over to the Safari Park, Lahore, by the wildlife department.

As per local wildlife officials the injured deer was spotted by locals near Panjgraian village. After chasing the frightened deer, locals surrounded it in a field and after catching it locked the animal in a room of a house.

On being informed of the situation, the local police reached the spot and called the wildlife department.

A team of wildlife department reached the spot and took the deer into custody.

Asghar Ali, a local, said mostly wild animals entered Pakistani territory through storm water drains.

Wildlife Assistant Director Zahid Pervez says the deer of this breed are rarely found in Pakistan.

He said the department handed it over to the Safari Park, Lahore.
