Mamond residents protest month-long power outage
BAJAUR: Residents of Lowi Mamond tehsil here on Tuesday demonstrated against month-long power suspension to different hilly localities of the subdivision.
People from different walks of life, including farmers, traders, transporters and youth, participated in the protest held in the Laghari Bazaar.
Ikram Khan, Parvez Mohammad, Khair Mohammad, Habibullah, Suliman Khan, Umar Said, Nasirullah, Haji Khan Sher and others spoke on the occasion, terming the prolonged electricity suspension great injustice with the residents.
The speakers pointed out the Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) had promised restoring the supply until Jan 17, but to no avail. They asked the senior officials of Tesco, the district administration and the local lawmakers to order the relevant officials to restore the electricity supply to the region without delay.
The main Laghari-Inayat Kallay Road remained blocked for about three hours due to the protest. The protesters also announced to hold a massive rally if electricity was not restored to their areas within next four days.
